DDV Tip | IFC Predefined types and BIM Authoring tool behaviour

There is some software, i.e. ArchiCAD, that enable us to set up accurately IFC model export.

Example: Shading element or Sun protection

A) If you're using IFC 2x3 release there's the possibility on any entity to add in the PSet_ElementShading the descriptive enumeration values.




B) If you're using IFC 2x4 release there's a new entity called "ifcShadingDevice", which we can set up using these predefined types: jalousie, shutter or awning.

This is what I call a good openBIM alignment in a BIM authoring software.
